The CBD is a cannabinoid found in marijuana, responsible for some medicinal properties of cannabis, but without altering the mood of its consumer. The extractions of CBD are an excellent option for those who wish to treat severe pain or other problems such as seizures, because they will not have to smoke the plant, but they can take advantage of its properties by consuming it, or by applying it directly on the affected area.
What do you need:
We recommend doing it with varieties that at least have a THC: CBD 1: 1 ratio, although the purest extractions will always be obtained with strains whose predominant cannabinoid is CBD. With 1g of dried buds per 100ml of oil will be enough, this time we will make 500ml of oil, so we will need 5g of dried buds to get a highly active oil.
It is essential that the plant material used is entirely free of chemicals, so the best option will always be marijuana grown by oneself, as it will be the only way to guarantee that it does not have any toxins in its composition.
We can use any oil (as long as it is suitable for human consumption) to make our lotion, although the most recommended are hemp oil and olive oil, as they will better preserve the properties of cannabis, allowing us to store it for a more extended period.
How it is done:
Take a saucepan or a pot and fill it with about 500ml of water, put it on low heat and wait a couple of minutes. When the water is hot, you should add the 500ml of oil and the 5g of marijuana, stir slowly and keep on a very gentle heat. During approximately one hour we will have to keep the fire, controlling that the water does not begin to boil, stirring gently every so often.
The water will begin its boiling at 100ºC; if this happens, we will have to lower the temperature, because as it continues to boil it will quickly reach 150ºC, which will cause some cannabinoids to evaporate. We will have to make sure that it stays at a mild temperature even if it takes a longer time because we will ensure that it releases all the cannabinoids, without altering or evaporating them.
Once enough time has passed to release all the cannabinoids, we will proceed to remove the pot from the fire and let it cool to room temperature. When the oil has lowered its cold, it will reach a more robust/ pasty form, so it will hardly cost you to separate it from the water, which will remain in its liquid form.
Later you will have to filter the oil using a strainer, so that all plant challenges are trapped in the mesh, leaving your extraction ready to be used. To conserve it as long as possible, we recommend storing it in a canister with an airtight seal, in a calm and dry place, away from sunlight.
Mode of use:
In case of having a pain in a specific area, we can apply it as any cream, making its effect directly on the particular area.
If we want to treat something more general such as convulsions or spasms, we can directly place a couple of drops under the tongue, so that its effect is distributed throughout the body.
If the flavor is too excessive applied directly under the tongue, you can also use it to taste different foods, so that you will take advantage of the same medicinal properties, but its character will be softer since it will only bring subtle nuances to the flavor.
